Psychotherapy, Hypno-Psychotherapy & Hypno-analysis
What is Psychotherapy & Hypno-Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy is a process “to help clients gain insight into their difficulties or distress, establish a greater understanding of their motivation, and enable them to find more appropriate ways of coping or bring about changes in their thinking and behaviour. Psychotherapy involves exploring feelings, beliefs, thoughts and relevant events, sometimes from childhood and personal history, in a structured way.”
Hypno-psychotherapy is the clinical application of hypnosis to enhance psychotherapeutic interventions.
Hypno-psychotherapist’s are trained to deal with deep psychological issues. This includes psychodynamic, behavioural and person-centred approaches.
Hypno-psychotherapy has a long history with the use of hypnosis in a clinical setting dating back to the 18th and 19th centuries.
Psychoanalysis is a method of treating various mental challenges / unconscious beliefs, which access the unconscious mental processes trying to connect to the root cause of the patient’s issue. It could be described as “deep psychology.”
Counselling & Hypno-Counselling
Counselling, or ‘therapy’ as it can be commonly known, falls under the umbrella term ‘talking therapies’ and allows people to discuss their problems and any difficult feelings they encounter in a safe, confidential environment. It is a process people seek when they want to change something in their lives, or simply explore their thoughts and feelings in more depth.
A counsellor, or therapist, is not there to sit you down and tell you what to do. The therapist will encourage you to talk about what’s bothering you in order to uncover any root causes and identify your specific ways of thinking. They may then look to create a plan of action to either help you reconcile your issues, or help you to find ways of coping.
Counselling is a talking therapy that involves a trained therapist listening to you and helping you find ways to deal with emotional issues. Sometimes, the term ‘counselling’ is used to refer to talking therapies in general, but counselling is also a type of therapy in its own right.
Generally counsellors look at specific issues over a shorter time period, whilst therapists often go deeper, looking to uncover the root causes of experiences, and treatment often spans over a longer period of time. Counsellors may also be trained in other modalities and incorporate them in their treatment plans.
What is Hypno-Counselling
Hypno-counselling is a mixture of Counselling and hypnotherapy, and will include integrating Hypnotherapy techniques for the benefit of each individual client. We like to say it is enhanced counselling as we integrate counselling techniques with hypnotherapy which can assist in creating a more beneficial mindset and beneficial ways of thinking, feeling and doing things
Hypnotherapy is a fantastic tool to assist and facilitate change and can treat all manner of different challenges.
Hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy uses hypnosis and a wide array of techniques to help our clients overcome their challenges. There are 2 types of hypnotherapy, 1. Suggestion 1-4 sessions and Analysis 8-12 session dependent on the challenge that is being faced. Both will be discussed and explained in detail with your therapist on your initial Consultation.
Tips for finding the right therapist for you
As people become more aware than ever of what should be expected from a complementary therapy or a psychotherapy practitioner. Demand for therapeutic services is ever increasing, as is awareness of the availability of help.
When looking for a therapist we suggest that people need to be assured that the practitioner has completed an accredited training and belongs to a recognised professional association which requires members to adhere to a code of ethics, has a complaints procedure and requires members to be in ongoing clinical supervision. So we advise checking out a few different therapist’s in your area, looking at their website and their training qualifications, it is a good idea to also give them a call or email or text message to feel them out to before booking your first appointment. Perhaps another great way to locate a therapist is to ask someone that you know for a recommendation. Word of mouth can be very beneficial as the therapist’s has a proven track record with others. It is important to also note that not every therapist suits or works for everyone so don’t be put off if your first experience isn’t what you expect, keep trying as you will find the right therapist for you.
All our therapists are fully trained professional therapists and conduct their sessions in a safe, confidential way in comfortable settings allowing you to talk about and explore life’s challenges in a non-judgmental space The relationship is one of respect and non-judgement between you and the therapist and meetings usually last 50 minutes to one hour approx and are totally confidential and bound by a strict code of ethics under the ICHP rules and procedures in line with all government legislation.
We look forward to working with you soon and assisting you to take your next step forward 🙂
